    NAPLES BEACHES
    DIRECTIONS: From Gordon Pass on the south to Seagate Drive on the North.Facilities: Over 10 miles of sandy
    beach. Naples Fishing Pier is at the west end off 12th Avenue S., extending 1,000 feet into the
    Gulf - Great for fishing or watching sunsets. Metered parking, bait, snack bar, restrooms, outdoor showers.


    LOWDERMILK PARK/BEACH
    Banyan Blvd. and Gulf Shore Blvd.

    Facilities Include: Parking, restrooms, showers, pavilion, picnic tables and concessions.
    DIRECTIONS: U.S. 41 south, then west on Banyan Boulevard. At corner of Banyan and Gulf Shore boulevards.

     
    VANDERBILT BEACH
    DIRECTIONS: Starting in North Naples at Vanderbilt Drive on the South, to Delnor Wiggins State Park at the North.
    Phone: 597-6196Facilities include: Freshwater Showers, lifeguards, grills, picnic tables, boat ramp,
    observation tower, restrooms, bath house. Additional Public Parking in lot next to the Ritz Carlton.

     
    DELNOR-WIGGINS PASS STATE RECREATION AREA/BEACH
    11100 Gulf Shore Drive, N., Naples

    Hours: 8 am - Sunset Daily
    Facilities include: Five parking areas, picnic tables, BBQ's, boardwalks, showers, bathhouses, picnic pavilion,
    observation tower, boat-launching ramp, swimming, boating and fishing, restrooms
    DIRECTIONS: U.S. 41 south. Head west on 111th Avenue. After the bridge, it becomes Bluebill Avenue. Beach is at end of road.

     
    CLAM PASS PARK/BEACH
    Seagate Drive, Naples (South of the Registry Resort)
    Facilities include: Scenic boardwalk, kayak and catamaran rentals, beach chairs, trolley ride, outdoor showers,
    restrooms, snack bar.
    DIRECTIONS: U.S. 41 south to Seagate Drive. Then west. Beach is next to Naples Registry Resort.

     
    LELY BAREFOOT BEACH
    South off Bonita Beach Road, North Naples
    Facilities include: Showers, restrooms, snack bar, fishing ramps, picnic tables, fishing gear rental.
    DIRECTIONS: U.S. 41 south to Bonita Beach Road. West to Lely Barefoot Beach guardhouse.

      1. The average temperature in Naples is 75 degrees.
    2. Collier County, which includes the cities of Naples, Marco Island and Everglades City, is the largest county in the state with a total area of 2,305 square miles. At least 80% of that is set aside as preserve lands, which includes Big Cypress National Preserve, Everglades National Park, two national wildlife refuges, one national research reserve, three state parks, one state forest and many county, city and private parks and nature preserves.
    3. In 2005, Naples was designated by the Travel Channel as having the Best All-Around Beach in America, and in 2006, Conde Nast Magazine named Naples on its Top 20 list of Best Beaches in America.
    4. In his book The 100 Best Art Towns in America, author John Villani named Naples the No. 1 Small Arts Town in America.
    5. There are at least 134 art galleries in the Greater Naples Area.
    6. Naples has the most golf holes per capita in the country.
    7. The western side of the Florida Everglades is the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles are known to cohabitate.
    8. The Florida Legislature designated Collier County as the Purple Martin Capital of Florida.
    9. Stretching 99 miles from Everglades City to Flamingo, the Everglades Waterway is considered to be a paddling experience of a lifetime. With enough planning and equipment, canoe and kayak enthusiasts can paddle the length of the waterway in seven to nine days. Backcountry camping permits are required and can be obtained at the Everglades National Park Gulf Coast Visitor Center.
    10. Everglades City has the reputation of being the Stone Crab Capital of the World.
    11. The Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is regarded as one of the top bird watching spots in the United States.
    12. Goodland, the historic fishing village on Marco Island, is home to the famous Mullet Festival and the crowing of the Buzzard Queen.
    13. Naples is home to the famous Swamp Buggy Races, held three times a year in January, March and October.
    14. Collier County is home to the endangered Florida panther.
    15. The East-West corridor and portion of U.S. 41 was largely made possible by the investments of New York tycoon Barron G. Collier, who offered to bankroll the completion of the project after the State of Florida ran out of funding in 1922. In exchange, the State carved Collier County out of a large portion of southern Lee County. The Tamiami Trail, as it came to be known, took 13 years, $8 million, and 2.6 million sticks of dynamite to build.
    16. Everglades City was the County Seat of Collier County during those early years of building the Tamiami Trail.

    If any metropolis qualifies as the golf course mecca of the Sunshine State, it's Naples. The tip-off comes along U.S. Highway 41, the region's main north-south thoroughfare, where a tastefully landscaped sign heralding the arrival of yet another gated private golf community is found at nearly every intersection between Naples and Bonita Springs.

    An impressive collection of manicured greens beckon players of every caliber. Golf enthusiasts will find some of the most sought after golf courses among luxury communities and abundant four and five star resorts. With 100 courses and counting, there are more golf holes per capita in Naples than in any other American city, but it should be noted that roughly 80 percent of the golf courses are private.
